BNPP Dublin Operations department consists of 4 inter-related departments: SCM Operations, Banking & Loan Operations, Markets Middle Office, and Client Administration.

Within the SCM Operations teams, there are 3 separate teams to manage the operations and risk. These are Supply Chain Funding, Supply Chain Settlements and SCM Control.

The function of the Supply Chain Settlements (SCS) team is to settle the receipt of invoice transactions on behalf of global corporate clients of the BNPP Group. Non-receipt of settlements is investigated with clients and reported according to the Group escalation policy.

This specific role is accountable for the timely settlement of invoices, the appropriate escalation to the Head of Supply Chain Operations, and control framework to ensure full compliance with local and group procedures. It requires team leadership, a complete knowledge of all workload and systems and ability to assess all risk aspects. 


Key Responsibilities:

Team Management

·       Team Organisation and Structure:

o   Ensure that there are sufficient resources in the settlement and controls team to securely manage the activity and any issues reported to Head of SC Operations.

o   Responsible for staff activities among others: Appropriate organisation within the team, reviews and appraisals, staff development, training & succession planning

·       Production Task Completion: Accountable for the delivery of all settlement tasks assigned to the teams and ensure timely completion with appropriate controls.

·       Meeting Management: Participation in and leading meetings with stakeholders as required.

·       Project Management: Manage and participation in department, cross functional and ITO projects

Department and Activity Oversight

·       Settlements: Oversee Settlement process to ensure all tasks & controls within the activity are performed.

·       Overdues Management: Complete oversight of all aspects of the various settlement processes, including implementation of the Escalation policy for Overdues

·       Program Analysis: Structured reviews and reporting of all settlements to indicate issues, workload and potential risks. This analysis should feed into the Payable/Receivable Operational Committee.

·       Operational Risk: Continuous review and reporting of all operational risk in all processing aspects including processing, compliance & systems

·       Transaction Processing: Accountable for all production tasks described below to oversee they are delivered to a high standard and on time

·       Incident Management: Assess all settlement incidents, timely escalation to Operations management & OPC and remediate where required.

·       New Activity: Participation in TAC/NAC where applicable for new activities and transactions. Ensure the settlement process will be secure to manage any new activity

·       Efficiency: Drive settlement efficiency initiatives and implementation of these initiatives  in Operations settlement processes & controls.

·       Financial Security: Continually assess Financial Security requirements, risks and systems in the operational activity to ensure full compliance with BNPP Group requirements


Control Framework

·       Internal Control Framework:

o   Development, implementation & review of internal controls relating to the settlement activity

o   Maintain catalogue of settlement controls (Local, Group & departmental)

o   Daily validation of performed settlement controls

o   Nostro breaks for SCM settlement accounts are cleared daily & justified

·       Accounting Control: Ensure that all accounting transactions are correctly processed, investigated and remediated. Ensure that all accounts are correctly justified and certified each month.

·       Procedures & Controls; Ensure Procedures relating to Settlements are up to date and ensure Operations Team processes adhere to Group Policies & guidelines.

·       Risk Assessments: Maintenance of Control plans, participation in RCSA reviews, and action plans where applicable


With the Head of SC Settlements and the SC Control team, ensure that all operational processes and controls are completed on time and accurately

·       Payment and Settlement of non-discounted invoices

·       Processing of direct debit files to request client settlement

·       Settlement of Invoice payments

·       Investigation of Overdue invoices

·       Client Queries and investigations,

·       Suspense, nostro and control account reconciliation and monitoring


Qualifications & Experience required for this role:

·       Business/Finance 3rd level qualification

·       Minimum 8 years’ experience in a Banking Operational leadership role

·       Proven experience in a control focused environment

·       Strong knowledge of accounting processes & controls

·       Proven ability to interact effectively with senior stakeholders

·       Ability to identify and prioritise workload

·       Organisational – Ability to manage time, plans, structure, prioritise and coordinate resources

·       Proactivity to anticipate requirements and risks

·       Critical Thinking – Ability to question tasks, identify and implement areas of improvement

·       Adaptability – Recognise the need and ongoing implementation of changes
