Overall responsibilities

  • Opportunity to be part of a leading advisory team, assisting clients, primarily Iberian Financial Institutions (i.e. banks, insurance, asset managers, fintechs) in defining their long-term strategy and inorganic growth plans with views to maximising value for its key stakeholders 
  • Be part of the team leading landmark transactions that have an impact in the future of Spanish and Portuguese financial sector 
  • The work in FIC Advisory The r includes two main type of tasks: (i) marketing materials, in which the team proactively presents ideas to the client, and (ii) executions, where the team advises clients in strategic transactions, which comprise sellsides, buysides, IPOs, take private, partnerships, etc. 
  • An analyst’s responsibility is to support the team (MD / Director / VP / Associate) in both workstreams and its specific responsibilities are:
    • Conduct market and sector research and companies research
    • Understand and analyse the financial information of financial institutions
    • Analyse diligently and with good judgement the information and present it in a clear and concise manner 
    • Prepare thoughtful presentations for clients 
    • Conduct financial analysis, including business projections, valuation models  
    • Take responsibility for the tasks delegated by VP / Associate
    • Deliver best-in-class materials in a competitive industry requiring the highest standards for clients 

 

Marketing materials

  • Prepare client presentations autonomously on the basis of guidelines and supervision of the Associate, VP, Director and Managing Director
  • Preparation of a presentation includes (i) conducting the required research, (ii) analysing the information, (iii) preparing financial analysis, (iv) selecting the relevant information and prepare slides in a concise and self-explanatory manner, (v) reviewing the presentation with the Associate and Managing Director
  • Preparation of follow ups for the client in a timely manner
  • Appropriate exposure to clients when possible under direct supervision of Managing Director

 

Transaction Execution

  • Assist Managing Director / Associate in key steps of an execution. Executions include: sellside, buyside, take private, fairness opinions, IPOs for instance
  • Prepare models autonomously (trading/ transaction multiples, Business Plan and DDM) or under supervision of Associate for more complex analyses (LBO, Merger Model) 
  • Prepare presentations for clients in its decision making process for Top Management, Executive Committees, Board Members 
  • Prepare sell side materials (descriptive sections of Information Memorandum, data rooms, drafting of management presentation), buyside materials, IPO materials, valuation materials, fairness opinions, etc 

 

Presentation & communication 

  • Excellent communication skills, both orally and written, and presentation skills 
  • Present and explain clearly results of research & analyses to Associate / MD
  • Ability to communicate in a concise and summarised manner, giving the relevant information

 

Modelling and technical skills

  • Prepare financial and valuation models for marketing purposes and executions
  • Excel in modelling skills, analytical and numerical tasks, including accounting, financial and valuation techniques

 

Team responsibilities

  • Contribute to recruitment and training of interns 
  • Ability to collaborate and work in team

Profile

  • Demonstrate strong interest in Corporate Finance, mergers & acquisitions and understand key responsibilities/tasks of the job
  • Strong interest in financial institutions resulting in being up to date on the sector, macro economy, mergers and acquisitions, general sector knowledge
  • Proactive approach, eagerness to learn, inquisitive and questions the status quo
  • Take accountability and ownership of its own responsibilities
  • Works independently and with autonomy. Problem solver 
  • Excellent organisational skills, with strong ability to multi-task
  • Capability to work under tight deadlines, excellent time management and prioritisation

Technical competencies

  • Excellent knowledge of accounting, financial and valuation techniques
  • Strong numerical and analytical ability, aptitude to think strategically
  • Numerical and analytical skills with strong modelling skills (DDM, multiples, basic LBO model, basic merger model and value creation analyses…)
  • Knowledge of process and key steps for major types of transactions (sell side, buy side, LBO, public offer, IPO)

 

Other important competencies

  • Strong academic background, Master Degree in Finance, Management, Economics, Engineering area/s
  • Current or past experience in working in Corporate Finance and in particular in Financial Institutions Corporate
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Fluency in English is compulsory, any European languages a plus 
  • At ease with Microsoft Office tools, FactSet, Bloomberg and other information database
