About the job

  • Under guidance from the Senior Analyst, the Data Quality Trainee’s mission is to support day‑to‑day data‑quality activities, learn the full data‑governance lifecycle, and develop technical and analytical skills in a regulated banking environment
  • As a Data Quality Trainee, you will join this international, best‑in‑class data‑management team in Lisbon. The role is designed as a learning pathway towards a full fledged Data Quality Analyst position

Your Main Activities Are

  • To assist in identifying and escalating data‑quality anomalies under senior supervision
  • To support periodic data‑quality controls: Pre‑close – help run early‑detection scripts and flag potential issues; Post‑close – contribute to residual‑issue analysis and remediation tracking
  • To help prepare methodological documentation and disseminate best‑practice guidelines
  • To collaborate with the Credit Portfolio Analysis and Strategic Risk Analysis teams to provide status updates on data‑quality actions
  • To participate in the monitoring of action plans for structural data‑quality issues, coordinating with Finance, RISK, IT, and Data Office contacts
  • To contribute to impact analyses of ongoing projects on data quality (for example, new data sources, system upgrades)
  • To provide regular progress updates to the department’s management team

Profile and Skills to Success

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Economics / Finance / Data Science or related 
  • Advanced level of English, both written and oral
  • Knowledge in Data-Analysis tools (exploratory data analysis, visualisation) / MS Office Pack (Excel) / Dataiku / Python / Database fundamentals (SQL) / “Test and Learn” methodology
  • Attention to detail / rigour
  • Adaptability 
  • Ability to synthetise / simplify
  • Communication skills, both written and oral
  • Proactivity 
  • Basic project-management awareness
  • Early-stage data-intelligence curiosity (data profiling, validation)

About the Team

  • The BNP Paribas Group RISK function, through the RISK  Strategic Governance and Credit Platform (SGCP) team, maintains the Group Risk Appetite Framework, delivers management information on the credit portfolio, and coordinates with supervisors (for example, the European Central Bank)
  • Within RISK SGCP, the Data Management team designs agile data‑processing, automation, and visualisation solutions, supports complex regulatory requests, anticipates new data needs, and contributes to the Group data‑quality framework (BCBS239, policies, standards)
