ABOUT THE JOB
MISSION
The Private Capital department offers specialized services in Fund Administration and Middle Office to alternative asset managers managing Private Capital funds. We also assist our clients in dealing with regulatory requirements and tax preparation (CNMV, AEAT, etc.).
 
Our mission is to become a reference for Private Capital clients in Spain, by offering a complete set of solutions encompassing a full range of back and middle office services. In order to accomplish this, product specialization, client proximity, a deep knowledge of the local market and the regulatory and fiscal framework in Spain are key to be able to provide the highest value-added services that our client demands.
 
 RESPONSIBILITIES

Management of Private Capital Middle Office Operations in Spain.
 Private Capital Middle Office Operations includes:
 

  • Private Capital Asset classes:
    1. Private Equity
    2. Infrastructures
    3. Private Debt
    4. Real Estate
    5. Funds of funds of any of these asset classes
  • Client types
    1. Asset Owners investing into Private Capital asset classes.
    2. Asset Managers mostly for closed ended funds and on a more exceptional basis open-ended funds.

 

  • Opportunities in LatAm may also arise, mainly from AO, and will also be part of this job description.
     
     

Management of Middle Office operational activities and teams in Spain:
 

  • Phase I (until we reach critical mass to spin off Middle Office from Fund Admin operations):
    1. Fund administration and accounting:
      • Collection of illiquid asset prices, NAV calculation, regulatory reporting to CNMV, tax reporting to local regulator, periodic financial statements
  • The main goal of this responsibility is to have an in-depth knowledge of Fund Administration routines and how it feeds into Middle Office, leveraging on eFront FIA and local tools.

 

Middle office:

  • Transaction framing (feeding fund accounting, and whenever applicable, record keeping)
  • Investors management (Equalization, subsequent closings, capital calls and distributions notices and realizations, reminders of payment, capital account statements, tracking of committed capital and remaining (unfunded) commitments, waterfall calculation, carried interest, investors reporting)
  • Fund management (cash flow monitoring and forecasting, life of the fund monitoring)
  • Portfolio monitoring and related performance metrics (DPI, TVPI, IRR)
  • Master Caplink private and ensure his deployment.

 

  • Phase II (after achieving enough critical mass so that the Middle Office area can be span-off from Fund Administration)
    1. Sole responsibility to manage the Middle Office department, which include, among other things, building a dedicated team for this activity (no longer FA responsibilities).
    2. Key contact person for Middle Office with clients
    3. Managing the relationship and prioritization for the Middle Office business needs in Spain vis a vis other internal teams in Luxemburg and Paris (GBCM, IT, etc.)
    4. Manage team based on Middle Office KPIs
    5. Manage and maintain Middle Office processes and procedures and its proper application in BaU.
    6. His position will then be updated to “Head of Middle Office in Spain”

 

 

Other complementary responsibilities:

  • Assistance on the development / implementation of the local Middle Office business strategy in Spain (and LatAm) for both Asset Managers and Asset Owners 
  • Supporting the growth in revenue and net contribution to the Middle Office segment, including liaising with clients 
  • Identify and propose innovative MO product and client solutions.
  • Supporting the Sales/RM teams on new and existing client propositions (RFPs, Fee proposals, etc.)
  • Working with operational teams (mainly Fund Administration and Depositary) to maximize the efficiency and delivery of the product and client solutions.
  • Production of management information to internal committees
  • Managing and bringing technical expertise to teams’ part of the Private Capital Products & Solutions and operations in Spain (and LatAm).

 

REQUIREMENTS

Studies

  • Ideally a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics or Engineering (all given analytical profile) would be best suited for this position.

Experience

  • At least 10 years of experience in Private Capital, ideally working for an Alternative Asset Manager. Functions may include Private Capital Fund Administration or Investor Services.

Languages

  • Fluent in English and working knowledge of Spanish.

Technical

  • Fund administration routines: including NAV calculation, regulatory reporting, Private Capital financial statements production.
  • Investor Services routines: capital call and distribution notices, capital account statements (“PCaps”), Equalization calculation, Waterfall calculation (American and European model), investor reporting, calculation of performance metrics (IRR, TVPI, RVPI, DPI).
