Who will I be working with? 

You will be working in our Compliance function as a Level 3 Compliance Officer Apprentice. This apprenticeship will provide you with a strong foundational knowledge of the industry, along with specific regulations and practices vital to the world of compliance. You will keep up to date with key regulatory and legislative changes, playing an active role in providing support and recommendations to the business to ensure compliance, while supporting the use and implementation of strong processes and effective controls in your areas. 

Compliance is an independent function responsible for providing specialist advice and support to UK Senior Management, business lines and functions in adhering to internal controls and external rules and managing compliance risks. The function typically acts as a second line of defence covering areas such as; controls, assurance, monitoring, professional ethics, training and competence, whistleblowing, money laundering, market abuse, financial security and regulatory liaison. 

What will I be doing? 

This role will sit within the Compliance CIB Controls Europe team and will assist with carrying out Compliance reviews and, where necessary, allocated independent testing and controls across any CIB business lines throughout Europe. The main responsibilities will be: 

  • to contribute to the planning of reviews/controls 
  • to support in completing the allocated program of “second line of defence” testing and/or risk-based thematic, transversal, targeted and desk focused Compliance reviews, by either assisting colleagues or completing reviews under supervision 
  • developing a deep understanding of your business area and client base through training and practical experience 
  • data analysis of information and documentation: compiling reports and presentations 
  • stakeholder management and engagement of key internal partners 
  • accurate and timely maintenance of trackers and databases 

 

Technical Skills and Qualifications required for the role 

  • Five GCSE’s including Maths and English grade A-C (level 4-9) 
  • Preferred candidates who are finishing A-levels in 2025 or attained within the past 12 months 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 
  • Excellent attention to detail skills  
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written 
  • Strong interpersonal skills

Duration: 19 months  

Location: London 

Apprentices need to have a continued right to live and work in the UK for the duration of the programme.
