Business Area/Dept Overview

The role sits within Markets (‘M360’), the transversal research group within Global Markets. Within that group, the role would be within the Macro Quantitative Derivatives Strategy team and specifically allocated to the asset allocation and QIS Strategy team.

Purpose and Scope of Role

Purpose:

The role exists to support the content generation of the asset allocation and QIS strategy team within M360. It entails developing quantitative models to help our clients allocate capital across both traditional asset classes and QIS strategies covering both topics of portfolio construction, tactical signals and identification of new systematic strategies. The role will include client-facing responsibilities, communicating to clients our research content.

Scope: 

•   Global scope, responsible to support Asset allocation and QIS strategy effort with M360.

Key Responsibilities of Role

The role entails three key responsibilities:

•    First, the strategist will work on expanding and deepening our quantitative toolkit in constructing portfolios and timing asset classes and styles. This objective will involve actively reading academic and practitioner literature on portfolio optimization, asset pricing and risk premia, developing and backtesting systematic strategies and coding new tools/models in Python.
•    Second, the strategist will be instrumental in communicating research views to clients, working closely with sales and structuring to assist clients in their asset allocation process. This will entail maintaining familiarity with the wider research offering at BNP Paribas, the QIS product offering and the effective communication of the team’s views to our client base.
•    Finally, the strategist will help mentor junior resources helping them develop their quantitative and coding skill set.

Experience, Qualifications & Competencies

Essential

•    Strong quantitative background evidenced by a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline.
•    Strong understanding of financial engineering, broad economics and asset management concepts with regards to portfolio construction (optimization), simulation and back-testing.
•    Strong communication skills, ability to explain simply and succinctly complex ideas including quantitative concepts and methodology to a diverse audience.
•    Fast-paced approach to research, ability to deliver projects under tight deadlines and cycle quickly through research projects.
•    Ability to multi-task and work simultaneously on various research projects.

Preferred

•    Fluency in French.
