Compliance is an independent Function responsible for providing specialist support typically acting as a Second Level of Defence. Capital Markets Market Surveillance (CMS) is a specific section of Compliance specialising in preventing, detecting and investigating Market abuse.

Job purpose

This 11-month role will sit within the team of the CIB Capital Markets Surveillance (CMS) Chief Operating Officer (COO). 

The role will enable the successful candidate to gain exposure to how Market Surveillance activities are organised and operated in a large international bank. 

The COO Office oversee the operation of CMS across CIB and supports that Global Head of CMS in the operation of this activity and it’s continuous improvement. 

The candidate will be involved with several aspect of the CMS COO Office activities including but not limited to:

•    Committee Governance – pack and meeting preparation.

•    Action tracking and follow-up.

•    Overseeing the update of CMS data repositories.

•    Working with teams/stakeholders internationally.

•    Undertaking analysis work as required. 

•    Seeking efficiencies in the operation of the practice.


Key Responsibilities

Team processes:

•    Establish and maintain communication tools and data repositories such as SharePoint, shared drives, mailboxes, and email distribution lists.

•    Manage the CMS SharePoint, manage the evolution of the site and design to ensure a comprehensive, well organised site that is easy to navigate. 

•    Ensure team documentation is kept updated i.e. Organisational charts.

Efficiency:

•    Identify opportunities and construct solutions for improving efficiency in the way the team works.

Governance:

•    Assist in the preparation of Governance meetings.

•    Collate material, manage formatting and distributing the pack and post meeting information.

•    Help prepare agendas by seeking input from relevant stakeholders.

Projects/data analysis/automation

•    Participate in ad-hoc projects including data analysis / automation and the use of AI productivity tooling.

Training

•    Assist in the review, update and provision of CMS training.

Communication and Coordination:

•    Co-ordinate within the CMS team and with other Compliance Teams as relevant to facilitate a smooth flow of information. 

•    Assist in the update of policy/procedure and guidelines. 

Stakeholder management:

•    Build and maintain internal stakeholder relationships as appropriate.

•    Develop network globally.

•    Encourage teamwork.

Requirements

The role requires high levels of the following competencies/skills:

•    Strong collaborative approach and ability to work effectively in a team.

•    Strong Communication skills with ability to communicate clearly and effectively in all forms.

•    Sound judgement with ability to understand limits and when a matter needs to be escalated. 

•    Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise appropriately.

•    MS Office (PowerPoint, Word and Excel) and SharePoint proficiency.
